Scoliosis is an abnormal lateral curvature of the spine. It is estimated that it affects about 6 million individuals in the United States, many of whom do not know they have this condition because they haven’t been examined. The vast majority of scoliosis develops between the ages of 9 – 14 and unfortunately the vast majority of cases are of an unknown cause although injury and heredity are contributing factors. Females are more likely to have the condition.

Spinal degeneration can cause scoliosis in adults with significant pain symptoms and altered ability to carry out daily activities.
